Emil Seehusen is a Danish-born architect trained in the US and Europe at the Southern California Institute of Architecture(SCI- Arc) and the Royal Danish Academy of Arts. Alongside professional practice, Emil has extensive experience as an architectural educator, having taught and led bachelor's and master's degree architecture units at the Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen. He has also initiated several collaborations between students in Somaliland and the Southern California Institute of Architecture in Los Angeles. He is currently involved in a research initiative on affordable housing in East Africa in collaboration with SCI-Arc.

Emil has worked at Foster + Partners in London on several high-end hotels, retail, and office projects (2010-2013, UK Architect). Emil is the founder of the design office Device Agency, a Copenhagen-based practice that has designed houses, office spaces, and boutique interiors in London, Paris, and Copenhagen (2014-).

The publication disseminates the work of third-year students during a month-long field study trip to Mozambique. The field study was co-organized by Emil Seehusen, who was also the head of the module, in addition to contributing a chapter to the book.
